Fitness: sufficient mobility is required to transfer from wharf to boat (height equivalent floor-seat of chair) and walk unassisted for 3 hours. Family friendly: Half day Ulva Island guided walk is suitable for children who are mindful of the need to be quiet around wildlife and able to walk for 3 hours. Tour cannot be prematurely ended if children get tired or disrupted as other adults may be on the tour. We offer bespoke/private tours if families prefer to have some flexibility.

Our specialty is small personal tours. Enjoy our half day Ulva Island guided walk with our knowledgeable local guide and discover unique, rare and endangered birds and plants at close quarters. Exquisite seasonal orchids, very friendly birdlife that will come too close for your camera lens. Ulva Island is home to South Island Saddleback, tomtit, rifleman, Stewart Island Robin, brown creeper, tūī, kaka, fantail, New Zealand pigeon, yellow and red-crowned kakariki (parakeet), Bellbird and yellowhead - the list goes on. Ticket price is inclusive of return water taxi transport between Stewart Island and Ulva Island, our specialist natural history guide for the duration of the tour, Department of Conservation concession fees and GST.
