Return transport from Hokitika available
Fitness Requirements: Participants should be of a suitable fitness level to complete the tour in a reasonable time. This will involve walking for 2-3 hours and paddling for 2-3 hours. Our maximum PFD chest size is 142cm and our maximum wetsuit size is XXL. A minimum weight of 30kg and a maximum weight of 136kg applies due to the limitations of our equipment. If you are outside of this weight range please contact us for further information.
We operate under a 48-hour cancellation and amendment policy. Any booking that is cancelled or amended within 48 hours of departure will be charged in full. In the event that a medical condition prevents you from partaking in the activity, a medical certificate must be provided to obtain a refund.
After driving out to the world-famous Hokitika Gorge put your running shoes on & prepare to get muddy. We walk up the Whitcombe Valley Track for approximately 2 hours through farmland & viewing native trees before dropping down to the Hokitika River & continuing up the boulders on the riverbank. After an energy-boosting lunch we put on our wetsuits & safety gear including a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and blow up the packrafts. We give a thorough safety briefing & introduce how to paddle the boats before heading downstream through a number of Class II rapids & epic scenery. You may find yourself in the water so make sure you are confident swimming in moving water. The trip ends with a float through the Hokitika Gorge.
