Your fare includes transport of your bike or e-bike in our purpose built bike racks.
Our trips run with minimum numbers and are weather dependent. We can run in pretty much any weather but passenger safety is our top priority so we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule.
Full refund will be given if cancelled 24 hours or more before your trip departure. If cancellation is within 24 hours we will try to reschedule or provide a partial refund.
Our Bike Ferry across Otago Harbour is the vital link between the two sections of the new Otago Harbour cycleway: Te Ara Moana – The Ocean Path, running from Dunedin City to Port Chalmers. Te Awa Ōtākou – The Ocean River from Dunedin to Portobello.
By carrying both riders and bikes between Port Chalmers and Portobello, our ferry allows you to seamlessly connect these two iconic routes and complete the full harbour loop. The crossing takes just 15 minutes, giving cyclists a scenic mini cruise across the harbour. Easily the ultimate way to link the harbour’s two trails and experience the very best of Te Aka Ōtākou.
