Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures' Ghost in the Shell stars Scarlett Johansson as the Major. It is directed by Rupert Sanders, and the screenplay is by Jamie Moss, William Wheeler and Ehren Kruger and also stars Japanese A-lister "Beat" Takeshi Kitano (Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence), French actress Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat), and Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones, Lucy).

The movie was shot in Wellington, New Zealand at Stone Street Studios.
