Weather dependent, minimum number of fares required for flights to depart. Please call us 24 hours prior to reconfirm your booking and departure time. This allows time for flight adjustments should the weather be looking unfavorable. We see whales 97% of the time. Occasionally, despite our very best efforts and flight planning, you may not see a whale. This is rare and unfortunate but can happen. In the unlikely event that you do not see a whale, no refund will be offered.
Reservations may be transferred to another date, subject to space availability, with no transfer fee incurred, provided notification is received at least 24 hours in advance. If you or GCH Aviation are unable to re-schedule the flight, then a full refund will be provided. Please consider visiting one of our other bases to fly at while on your holiday in Christchurch or Wellington
The extended option of our Classic Whale Watch, this flight gives you more time above Kaikoura’s unique deep-sea canyon searching for whales and other migrating marine life. The longer flight time allows us to search further offshore in the deeper waters, not only for the sperm whales but also for any migrating baleen whales such as the humpback, blue and fin whales as they travel between their feeding grounds in Antarctica and the warm waters of the South Pacific. On the way back to the beachfront heli pads keep an eye out for pods of our resident playful dusky dolphins, New Zealand fur seals basking along the rocks and the small hector dolphins swimming along the coastline.
