The Mt Cook region is a true alpine experience with New Zealand’s highest mountains and largest glaciers.
It’s possible to leave early from Queenstown and visit for the day but it is usually recommended to stay in Mt Cook for at least one night.
There is some of the best stargazing in the world, take a boat tour on the terminal lake of a glacier, go hiking up to Mueller Hut or take a scenic flight for spectacular alpine views, visit a salmon farm and picture-perfect Lake Pukaki.
