Stay safe on planes and public transport

  • Face coverings are legally required on all public transport, including both long-distance buses and trains and transport within cities.
  • Face coverings are also mandatory on all domestic flights. 
  • Wearing a face covering in a rideshare or taxi is recommended, but not legally required. It is required for your driver to wear a face covering. 

Understand our alert levels

New Zealand has a four-tier Covid-19 alert level system. The Covid-19 website explains what to do at different alert levels. 

Even at Alert Level 1, you should practice good hygiene, wash your hands often, and try to physically distance yourself from others where possible.
