Middle Rock Station is often called a classic “New Zealand farm experience with a personal touch.”
In the Lake Coleridge Highlands, just over an hour west of Christchurch, Middle Rock welcomes travellers who truly want to head “off the beaten track” and connect with locals who love to share their special part of New Zealand.
Bruce and Lyn Nell are third-generation sheep farmers who have been farming Middle Rock since 1973. Recently they have been joined by their daughter, Charlotte. Their sprawling property farms over 7,000 sheep, producing fine wool for the apparel industry and lamb for international export.
What’s in store at Middle Rock (apart from sheep?)
How about fresh baking, Mt Hutt views, sheep dog mustering and (if you’re lucky) even an impromptu high country bagpipe concert.
Spend a day, or much longer, getting amongst farming, gardens, heritage and traditional rural hospitality in the Lake Coleridge High Country.
