Pou Herenga Tai - Twin Coast Cycle Trail is one of only 23 Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand, and the only Great Ride that allows you to cycle from the east to the west coast. Journey through diverse and stunning scenery, magnificent views, native bush, suspension bridges, trickling streams, harbours, boardwalks, disused train corridors and tunnels. Explore some of New Zealand’s earliest Māori and European settlements with storyboards that immerse you in the history before your eyes. Discover the birthplace of our nation, our history and the stories of our local people. Suitable for most riders as it is generally flat with gentle climbs. The trail is well-maintained and can be ridden all year round.
