We can supply extra transport for the trip if required.
Minimum of 3 customers or full price charged to cover cost equivalent to 3 people. Helicopter access in the Tararua ranges is wind dependent, meaning it needs to be the right conditions to fly . The river is flow dependent meaning there is a chance that the river will be to low in summer months to raft or to high due to heavy rain fall.
If a trip is cancelled due to weather conditions prior to the booking you will be contacted and given the option to either postpone your trip to a later date or given a full refund. If you cancel less than a week before your booking Wellington rafting will hold 20% of your booking total. If you cancel on the day and do a no show Wellington rafting will hold full amount of the booking total with no refund.
The adventure begins meeting at Amalgamated Helicopters in Carterton, Wairarapa. Customers are given a briefing on the day's itinerary, sized up with river equipment and given safety instructions for the helicopter ride. We then load all equipment into the chopper and enjoy a gorgeous scenic 10-minute flight over the Tararua ranges and land riverside at Totara flats. Boats are pumped, a river safety briefing is given, and thanks to the awa/river is said. We then paddle 10 kilometres down the spectacular grade 2+ section of the Waiohine River, stopping halfway for a riverside lunch and to test out all the good rock jumping spots. High-quality photos and transport back to your vehicles are all included in this package.
