An e-bike riding family starting the Hāwea Trails. The e-bikes have 4 levels of assist and can be ridden in 'off' mode. Each bike is set up for trail riding including a day pack on the rear rack.
Our regular bikes are also set up for trail riding which includes water bottle holders and rear day bags attached to the rack. For safety nzbiketrails only uses Specialized Camber helmets with impact protection.
The Hāwea trail to Albert Town has plenty of places to stop, relax, enjoy and take photos. You aren't under any time pressure at all - just enjoy, stay safe and smile.
Often you will see Kayakers and Surfers practising their balance skills at the purposely built 'Wave' just before the crossing at Camp Hill Road. You can pass away the time watching these people navigating the waves.
Our Founders favourite spot on the trail. So peaceful and beautiful; a fantastic river view with mountains all around.
The swing-bridge close to Albert Town crosses the Hāwea river. Pembroke Patisserie is now very close. Coffee, cakes and lunch are now very close.
This is one of our Specialized Rockhopper Elite Regular bikes - this guest said it is quite embarrassing when your hire Mountain bike rides better than your very expensive Mountain bike at home.
On the lakefront in Wānaka. Guests often ride around to the Wānaka Tree and often get a drink and chips in the Edgewater Hotels Garden Bar. We love our well maintained bikes - they even have names.

A relatively easy self-guided family friendly Grade 1-2 ride following the stunning riverside trails between Lake Hāwea and Wānaka. Our luxury shuttle will transport you from Wānaka to Hāwea giving you a taste of the history of the area on the way. nzbiketrails will provide an overview of the route, safety briefing and a test ride to ensure that your bike is comfortable for you. You will then have all day to explore the local area on your bike and make stops on the way including the award-winning Patisserie in Albert Town. On arrival in Wānaka nzbiketrails will pick up your bikes. The bikes are Specialized Rockhopper Elite standard and Sinch e-bikes (recommended by Consumer NZ). These bikes are set-up for a great day of trail riding.
