The Southern Circuit, gateway to Mason Bay, is regarded as a remote, challenging tramp needing good fitness and route-finding skills, featuring a side trip to the rocky summit of Mt Rakeahua. Access is via the North West Circuit Track, on foot from Halfmoon Bay via North Arm, or by boat, with us.
Locations on the circuit include Freshwater River, Fred’s Camp and Rakeahua (all serviceable by water taxi), as well as Doughboy and Mason Bay. Please note that the Freshwater River and Rakeahua are tide-dependent destinations – please contact us for available times or to make a booking.
